- The database contains discriptions of, and connections to, web sites that contain information about the natural sciences, psychology, geography and environmantal sciences. Faculty recommendations and student research needs guide the selection of sites included in this database. Bibliographies, numeric data and databases are highly selected for.
- Subject
- Subject Headings are limited to a main subject heading and an optional single sub-heading.
- Descriptors
- Descriptor terms are derived from the web site and the creative minds of librarians. Search this field first if you are looking for specific topics. No warrenties are expressed or implied.
- Annotation
- A descriptin of the focus and content of the site. Largely derived from introduction and descriptive information found in the site itself with some description added by librarians.
- Author
- Author includes individual and corporate authors as identified on the web site.
- Material Type
- The format of the information content of the web site. Formats recognized include:
- Any
- All formats are included when this is selected.
- Topical Coverage
- An overview and/or introduction to a given topic
- Article Index
- Bibliographies are also included in this format.
- Database
- Databases here will exclude bibliographic databases, as these are classified as article indexes
- Numeric Data
- Numeric data in a variety of forms (searchable indexes, static tables and numeric lists) are included in this classification
- Directory
- Primarily lists of people and web sites are included here.
- Dictionary
- Topical dictionaries in sequential and hypertext formats are included here.
- Encyclopedia
- Encyclopedias included here are selected for their subject specificity.
- Other
- Anything that does not fit the other categories is included here.
